The equation for a Circle

The equation for a circle is ( x – h )^2 + ( y – k )^2 = r^2. Now, this equation may look like it would take an eternity to understand, but it’s very simple. H and K in the equation stand for the point in the middle of the circle. See this picture? H and K are the coordinates for the middle of the circle.

R stands for the radius and ^2 stands for the second power. With this equation, you can graph a circle on a graph with no problem! 😀 This shows that you can create shapes by using an equation.

Steve Hawkins would be so proud of you. Yes, math is not just equation of variables, functions, numbers and math operators. There is a visual part as well. Math is truly a science and an Art rolled into one.
