There are many endangered species of frogs, such as the mountain yellow-legged frogs, so it is important for frogs to have a safe and healthy environment. In this article, I will tell you factors that should contribute to an endangered frog species, MYF (Mountain Yellow-legged frogs.) The first thing that frogs should have of course is water. It is important to have a water source because, well, frogs need water to survive! The mountain yellow-legged frog also needs deep water to survive to avoid predators. If they live in shallow water. predators can eat them at ease because the frogs have nowhere to go. The second thing that frogs should have is no abundance of predators. An example of a predator for the mountain yellow-legged frog is trout. Before a scientist chooses a place to put the frogs, they take out plenty of trout that can stop the fish from eating the MLK. Another "predator" is bark beetles. Although they do not eat the frogs, they take away the habitat for frogs ...
Announcement
Hello, everyone. I have started school last month and it has been very busy with exercise, sports, homework, and study time to fit in. I am also very tired because I have to wake up extremely early to take my brother to his high school and make it back to my middle school ๐ I will try to post when I can, but for now, I will most likely take a break for a couple more months or weeks. I might post some history content soon, though! ...
Human Digestive System: The Basics
(This article is not done yet.) Topics you will read about: -mouth -large intenstine -teeth -small intestine -tongue -appendix -epiglottis -salivary glands -pharyx -esophagus -liver -gallbladder Mouth According to https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/ConditionsAndTreatments/mouth, the mouth is an oval-shaped cavity inside the skull. The mouth is mostly used for eating and talking. The parts of a mouth are the teeth, tongue, lips, gum, minor salivary glands, and palate. Since we are already going to talk about the teeth, tongue, and salivary glands, let's talk about the lips, gum, and palate. A lip is a "soft pliable anatomical structure that forms the mouth margin of most vertebrates," according to brittanica.com. Lips are used for eating and keeping unwanted objects out of the mouth. Basketball Tips: Shooting
(This is from my experience: I am not an expert) Do not shoot with two hands Many people I see shoot and chuck the ball with two hands. This causes the ball to go everywhere and is very inaccurate. This girl on the right is shooting it incorrectly. You can tell that she plans to shoot with the fingertips of both her hands and power it forward. This is not correct. The right form should look like the ball is under one hand that is bent at a 90-degree angle. If you are right-handed, you should have the ball in your right hand. If you are left, then you should have the ball in the left. It should look like your other arm is supporting the ball for balance. The picture on the left is an example of good form. -90 degree angle on arm -left arm supporting ball -not shooting with two hands -arm is not centered too much to the left or right 2. Jumping Forward Another thing I see a lot is jumping forward. Jumping forward can actually affect your ...
What is an isotope? -Shorts
An isotope is two or more forms of the same element that contain equal numbers of protons but different numbers of neutrons. Remember: the protons and neutrons are located in the nucleus, the interior center of an atom. Because of the proton frequencies in isotopes, the atomic mass of an isotope will be different from the original element. Its chemical properties, however, will stay the same. (The definition of a chemical property is: A chemical property is any of a material's properties that becomes evident during, or after, a chemical reaction; that is, any quality that can be established only by changing a substance's chemical identity. (wikipedia.com) Examples of chemical properties include flammability, toxicity, acidity, reactivity (many types), and heat of combustion. (https://ecampusontario.pressbooks.pub/)) Isotopes are written by the name of a symbol of an element, followed by a hyphen, and the mass number. (The mass number is calculated by the number of protons ...
English Reformation
(This article does not yet include assured, accurate information.) There is a lot more to the English reformation, but for now, here is a bit of a summary of what happened. I also forgot to add that there were a lot of battles at the end of the English Reformation as well. ๐ "The Protestant Reformation was the religious, political, intellectual and cultural upheaval dating back to the 16th-century," according to history.com. The Reformation was mainly focused on religious purposes, which lead to inventions such as the printing press. Two of the main points in the English Reformation were the discovery of Lutheranism and Calvinism. Before the English Reformation began, many reformers such as Martin Luther and John Calvin went to Catholic churches and questioned the church's ability to spread Catholic practices. The reformers believed that just redistributing the Bible itself would be able to take the Catholic church's place. According to history.com, "The disruption triggered ...
What is the difference between displacement and distance? -Shorts
To learn the difference between displacement and distance, we should identify what displacement and distance are in the first place. Distance is how far or long you have traveled, as you may have known. Distance is a scalar quantity, meaning that it gives you the distance or magnitude of how much an object has moved. However, it does not give us any information on what direction the object is moving, such as if it is moving right or left. An example of a scalar quantifies 6 meters. A block can move 6 meters, but where it is moving remains unidentified. A displacement is a type of vector quantity, which gives us information on how much an object has moved and what direction is it moving. For example, 5 meters to the right would be a vector quantity because it includes that is it moving 5 meters and that it is moving to the right. So, the difference between displacement and distance is that displacement includes the magnitude of an object and the direction it is moving, whereas ...
Basic Cell Structures and Parts
(This article is not finished) After this article, you will understand; -the basic parts of a cell -what the parts of the cell do -where parts are located Let's get on to learning! The Cell Membrane What is a cell membrane? The cell membrane, (also called plasma membrane), is the protective shield of the cytoplasm. (Cytoplasm is shown above as the blue stuff in the cell.) The cell membrane has a semipermeable lipid bilayer. This means that it has two layers of organic compound/fatty acids that allow only certain substances. What is it made up of? A cell membrane is made up of glycerophospholipids. According to https://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/cell-membranes-14052567/, "Glycerophospholipids are molecules composed of glycerol, a phosphate group, and two fatty acid chains. Glycerol is a three-carbon molecule that functions as the backbone of these membrane lipids." A fun fact about the cell membrane is that it does not need any energy to make ...
Happy Pride Month!
Just yesterday, the start of pride month has begun. The reason why we celebrate it is to honor the month in 1969, when the Stonewall Uprising occurred. This event was a protest in which the gay community began to riot against the police. Pride month usually begins in June. In this case, 2021's pride month begins on June 1st and ends on June 30th, meaning that we are currently in pride month. If you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, then maybe you can celebrate in small or big ways! Some are visiting sites where LGBTQ+ history is made while others are just in their room eating cakes!
