Artificial Intelligence, (also known as AI), is different from human intelligence. We use our imagination, awareness, emotion, and values to make decisions. Computers however do not possess these attributes. Sure, they have the ability to analyze large amounts of information quickly. But, humans have more of a genuine response to decisions.
So what is artificial intelligence? Artificial intelligence is simply a replica of human intelligence in machines. Programmers have been working on making a program that makes the computer sound genuine in its decision or response.
So far no one has made a computer or machine that makes authentic decisions. But, one program called, “Eugene Goostman”, has come awfully close. Now you might be wondering, how do we know that this program makes authentic decisions?
Before Eugene Goostman could be known as the first machine to make sincere responses, it had to go through a test. This test is called the Turing test.
The Turing test was created by Alan M. Turing in 1950. Here’s how it works: A human judge asks questions using a computer. The questions go to a computer and to another human being, hidden from view. Both the computer and human answer, leaving the judge to decide which answer came from either thing. If the judge cannot tell the computer and human apart, the computer has passed the Turing test.
Eugene Goostman was created by Vladimir Veselov, as well as two other programmers named Eugene Demchenko and Sergey Ulasen. Their hard work created a successful program, convincing 33 percent of the judges that it was human during a five-minute typed conversation. The program is portrayed as a 13-year-old Ukrainian boy.
Although the evolution of technology and programs grow, it might not be a good thing. We could easily lose a majority of our jobs and also get terrorized by computers.
Here are some more negative impacts:
- Bias: Artificial intelligence is made out of humans, so there could be a bias in the computer or program.
- Hacking: AI systems see the world differently and could make nefarious acts like planting viruses.
- High Cost: Setting up AI-based machines, computers, and more are all costly.
Although AI has some downsides, it has some positive impacts. Artificial intelligence can rapidly improve and add the work humans do. It can also do dangerous tasks and frees up the human workforces.
Experts assume in a few decades that AI will go to act. Do you think Artificial intelligence is a creative idea? Write your opinion in the comments!

AI is mostly good.

AI has tremendous potential to serve mankind if the technology is put to proper use. During the COVID-19 pandemic, AI was used to analyze and identify the most promising vaccine candidates. Without AI, the rapid development and high success rates would not have been possible. The compressed timeframe saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
AI comes in many forms. Some are able to help cars avoid accidents, help to people who speak different languages communicate, fend of computer viruses and help predict hurricane, tsunami and earthquakes. More and more, AI is being applied to solve seemingly impossible problems in pathology, genetic diseases, aging, cancers, etc.
There are many who say AI will become man’s worst enemy. It will become more powerful and will ultimately destroy our species. Yes, that can happen but not likely. As AI develops, man will find more ways to make AI more human-liked and provide it with the best human qualities as well. If you can imagine further, AI could one day serve as a role model of our human existence and ultimately teach us how to be happy. reach our potential and be fulfilled.
